The Children of the Nation Foundation (YABB) has carried out a week of learning for participants who pass to the next stage (Intermediate Level), starting from Monday 5 July 2021 to 9 July 2021. The learning is divided into 2 classes, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday studying Ruby programming is Object-Oriented Programming. Meanwhile, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we studied English taught by Cakap. During that week’s study, I felt different things, starting to know how to divide the time in doing the homework given after the event, starting from learning new things such as the Ruby programming language which as long as I was struggling in the IT world I had never tried, starting to try to learn public speaking in English (which I admit I have never tried in front of people), learn and try with my own ability, and also interact with other participants to develop my relationship. In short, I am very grateful to be able to join this program.

The most important thing I’ve learned is to divide my time. I learned to divide my time to do activities such as hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills are abilities needed for a job. Hard skills are usually special abilities and will be one of my future job descriptions. Soft skills are the personal attributes, personality, and communication skills needed to succeed in a job. If hard skills are something that can be achieved and learned, then soft skills are an ‘innate’ attribute of us as individuals. This may be learned, but not by studying like a lecture, but by interacting more with other people and practicing environmental sensitivity. From here, we can apply it to behavior and impact soft skills.

What I still don’t understand is why there are so few learning programs like this in Indonesia. I firmly believe that if more programs like this are held, it is not impossible that the younger generation of Indonesia will be more persistent and highly competitive.
My way of responding to this is by socializing this program together with other similar programs to relatives and friends. In addition, I will also implement the knowledge I have gained during this program to make it more useful, either by teaching it to others or by developing open source-based projects that can solve problems experienced by the community.
